And then there were 12 ... or more

I've always been something of an astronomy geek, so an article on MSNBC headlined "Plan boosts solar system to 12 planets" caught my eye. In case you haven't been following the controversy, now that several celestial bodies larger than Pluto have been discovered beyond Pluto, the definition of what constitutes a "planet" has been under debate. The International Astronomical Union has finally come up with a new - and controversial - definition that could raise the number of planets in our solar system from 9 to 12 for now, and it could be as many as 24. It would appear that not even outer space is immune from sprawl.

    I think that this is very exciting. I wanted to go into space, and if I had been born about 20 years later than I was, I could have tried for it. When I was younger I thought that if I couldn't go, I could at least know. And if astronomy weren't so much math and so little people, I would have done that.
