All your base are belong to us!

U.S. citizens, legal residents and tourists - almost all of them exclusively brown and with foreign names - are having their laptops, cell phones, cameras, PDAs and MP3 players confiscated by Customs and Border Patrol agents when entering or leaving the United States. In most cases, no reason is being given for the confiscation and no one has been charged with any crime, even though many of the electronic devices have not been returned.

From a new article at MSNBC:
The U.S. government has argued in a pending court case that its authority to protect the country's border extends to looking at information stored in electronic devices such as a laptop without any suspicion of a crime. In border searches, it regards a laptop the same as a suitcase.

"Your kid can be arrested because they can't prove the songs they downloaded to their iPod were legally downloaded," he said.

For great justice? I don't think so.

I only have English slang to offer, "Fuckall!"

While I still love the U.S. and what it's SUPPOSED to be, Jesus, we're living a terrorist nation. I've just realized that lately...
