It wasn't really all that much

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, aka. The Mormons, has maintained that the church was not REALLY involved in the recent California initiative to disallow marriage equality in that state. Oh, really? It now appears that not only were they directly involved but that they also reimbursed others for the expenses incurred in working to pass the initiative. To the tune of close to a million bucks! Didn't one of the commandments have something to do with being honest?
